a serious example of brazen scam:

Message Body:
Hello,
My name is Mark Allen, I’m from Limerick in the Republic of Ireland and I have a friend in Gambia named Alieu Fadera who is 18 years old and who takes care of his two younger brothers Omar and Alfusane. I have been helping Alieu financially since last November with sending him money for food, toiletries, and rent. I also raised €700 online for Alieu so that he could buy a donkey and cart and start working and providing for his family, but the police won’t let him work without insurance money for the donkey. I’m currently paying off his rent before I can send him money for the insurance. Is there anything that you can do to help him?
I can give you his number and you can contact him if you would like. I do my best for him, but there’s only so much I can do.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Mark Allen

Hello Matthew,

Thank you very much for your reply.

Unfortunately as it turns out, I was scammed by Alieu Fadera from Brikama in Gambia. He has since been arrested and released on bail.

If you want more information about this, just Google “Alieu Fadera is a Gambian scammer” and you will see the GoFundMe page that I was managing for him, as well as about about how Alieu slipped up by sending me a picture of a fraudulent receipt.

I know better now than to send/raise money for people whom I have never met. I would be better off sending my money to a registered charity. But I am at least proud of myself for being so emphatic that I was willing to send and raise money for an African family whom I had never met.

I am so glad that your physical health has returned.

Kindest regards to you,

Mark Allen
