Story
MCO was born from a deep reflection on the daily struggles faced by The Gambia’s most vulnerable populations. Challenge
In many Gambian schools, especially in rural areas, access to comprehensive healthcare is severely limited. Factors like low income and poor nutrition exacerbate this issue, leading to frequent illnesses and missed school days. This cycle of poor health directly jeopardizes a child’s academic performance and overall development. Without timely prevention and treatment, a brighter future remains out of reach.
Solution
MCO’s School Health & Wellness project addresses this critical need head-on by delivering essential primary health services directly to schools. Our program equips kindergarten, primary, and secondary schools with basic vital medical supplies and first-aid kits. In addition, we provide essential health education to both students and their caregivers. By creating a healthier school environment, we remove barriers to education and ensure students can focus on learning without the interruption of preventable illness.
